League position before match: 12th
Position after match: 13th

Okay, we lost to Akwa United. It's actually sad given that the team and fans were so upbeat going into that match. We beat Rangers 3-1 on Sunday and started dreaming of an away win immediately. Not so bad to dream about given that the team pulled a good performance to bang in 3 goals against the Flying Antelopes.

I was happy to get the news of the shift in venue for the match. From the Akwa Ibom Int'l Stadium, Nest of champions(I'd have loved the Harmony Boys to have a feel of that pitch though) to the famous UJ Usuene stadium.

We all learnt one important lesson though, that a home team on paper remain determined to come out all guns blazing even with the absence of their fans.

For those that saw the match live you will notice that die hard spirit in our team. They are just determined to grab points no matter how superior the opponent. This spirit came late in the match though. What a pity.

It was all Akwa United in the first 45' of the match and they got a goal through Olewezi to mark it. Our best chance came off Abdullahi (Idi Amin)'s boot. He should have buried the near post chance. I'm sure he'll be ruing that right now. After that chance it was back to the usual, Akwa running the rule.

The second half started looking promising but the strikers were wasteful. Alebiosu was not so involved in the goal poaching almost through out the match. Perhaps a goal would have come earlier if Alebiosu was really involved.

When we thought we were really getting in there and an equaliser was imminent Ubong broke our hearts in the 87th. But the boys never gave up, they kept pushing for goal however (that's the spirit I was talking of). It was really a wonderful sight, but....

Eventually a goal came and Idi Amin was the goal scorer. Heading in Alebiosu's cross. Despite the loss I think I'll still appreciate the last minute goal. We can pick up from there come Sunday when we face Lobi Star in our 'slaughterhouse'.

Kwara United Starters: Shagari, Victor, Onigbari, Obadaki, Ojo, Abdullahi, Baballe, Oladapo, Amungwa, Alebiosu.
