Kwara United Captain Hail Ahmed’s Support

The captain of Kwara United FC, Sheriff Jimoh, has urged governors in the country to emulate Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed’s support for sports development.

Jimoh in an interview with newsmen at the team’s training ground on Wednesday said the players are delighted about the governor’s support, which he maintained informed their promotion to the Premier league.

“Other state governors need to emulate our governor in order to improve the quality of our league since government is still the sole sponsor of our football,” he began.

“I do support private initiative in the sports sector in our country, but since it is government that is still doing it, they need to do it right.

“Gov. Ahmed’s huge support to the team made us come stronger during the season and that was why we fought hard to secure our promotion.

“The management have been wonderful too because if the government is spending and the right people are not there to manage the investment you won’t get results.”

Jimoh described the team’s General Manager Haruna Maigidansanma as a father who will always encourage the players to do more on the pitch.

He also commended other management too especially the secretary which he described as an experienced manager of the game.

However, the Kwara United skipper denied a story credited to him recently that the players are demanding for some amount of monies, saying he has never granted any journalist such audience for the story.
