NPFL Goes On Break Till June 14

The Glo Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) will be on break for three weeks after Week 10 round of matches this weekend, the League Management Company (LMC) has announced.

The league will now resume on June 14 with Week 11 games.

According to LMC boss Shehu Dikko, the break is to enable the various club managements familiarise with new governors who will be sworn-in on May 29 and to enable the LMC check how the clubs have complied with the NFF club certification regulations.

Eighteen of the 20 teams in the Nigeria Professional Football League are owned by state governments.

Giwa FC are owned by Chris Giwa and Gabros FC are now bankrolled by Ifeanyi Ubah.

In the meantime, the LMC announced this season’s league will end on November 15 as originally scheduled.

However, the mid-season break for the second transfer window will now start on July 19 as against the initial July 10.

The second round games will commence on August 2 with Match Day 20.
