Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi were held to a 1-1 draw by Kwara
United in a Glo Premier League match at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in
Bauchi.
The Bauchi club, hoping to maintain their winning at home in
the top flight, took the lead in the 71st minute when Emenike Onuoha converted
a penalty after Uche Martins' shot was handled in the area.
Sensing victory the home team who have themselves to blame
for wasting chances threw more men forward in anticipation of more goals,
however they were caught napping defensively in the 86th minute when unmarked
Segun Alebiosu nodded in Evans Iyoro's cross to even the score.
Kwara United sat back defending and were able to absorb the
pressure till the last minute with heroic saves from Shagari Ismail to deny the
home team.
Speaking after the game, Alebiosu gave credit to their
coach, Tunde Abdulrahman for his pep talk at half time.
"The coach told us at half time that we can win the
match, we should go out with the belief that we can do it, that gave us the
confidence even when we were losing. I am very happy to have scored the
goal," Alebiosu.
